Dr. S. S. Prabhu did his B.Sc. (Physics) from Mumbai University (formerly Bombay University), M.Sc. (Physics) from Pune University and PhD in Physics from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. He did his postdoctorate at Emory University, Atlanta, USA and joined TIFR as a Fellow. Dr. Prabhu is now Associate Professor of Physics at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science in TIFR, Mumbai. Dr. Prabhu initially worked on ultra-fast phenomena in semiconductors and hetero-structures using ultra-short lasers (pico-second). Later he worked on THz spectroscopy using sub-picosecond lasers. Currently, he works on ultra-fast carrier dynamics in materials using THz spectroscopy, developing THz technology, THz optical components like lenses, wave plates, filters, Meta-surfaces or Metamaterials, THz-waveguide based chemical and bio-chemical sensors and THz source-detector devices using plasmonic antenna designs. He has more than 45 papers in reputed international journals, and several articles (popular and technical) in many magazines. He has published more than 70 papers in conferences and has given many invited talks.
